The gifted and talented class of Colmesneil Elementary took a field trip to continue their research of a local community 5 miles northwest of Colmesneil. This Community was called the Mobile community and was thriving during the late 1800s early 1900s. The students visited local Texas historical markers, the Sunny Dell Church, which is recognized by the Texas State historical Society, two local cemeteries where they researched several families that lived during this time period, and they ended up on old Kirby Road where several of the artifacts they have uncovered were originally found. They rounded out the day at the Bulldog Cafe for lunch and lively conversation about their findings! The gifted and talented class looks forward to sharing with their teachers and classes, their school board and their community all about their research and the connections they have made from the past to the future of Tyler County.
