From the Desk of Nurse Marshall.
Quick reminder....we are seeing quite of bit of flu and strep this time of year..... Every 3-5 years, we will see a rise in our community in illnesses. It is not just here locally. It is across Texas. We need to keep doing our part by reminding students (and those "adults") to wash hands often, use hand sanitizer if water and soap is not available, do not touch our eyes, noses, and mouths, sneeze and cough inside your shirt, respect personal space and DO NOT come to school sick.
The flu virus can spread up to a day before you show symptoms and up to 5-7 days after you are well....sometimes longer in some affected people. Rule of thumb is for students/adults who are diagnosed with the flu remain at home away from the public for a minimum of 72 hours "once" treatment has started and must be fever-free for a minimum of 24 hours without fever reducing meds.
We need to all be responsible for sanitizing and disinfecting our own work zones. We won't prevent viruses from entering our school, but any extra measures does help.
Wash your hands, keep mouth breathers back😷, get a flu vaccine and stay healthy!!
