Updated Swimming Area

For the first time in many years the swimming area has undergone a much needed transformation. We have added 8 new covered tables as well as leaving the existing ones. We have also turned an area into a kid friendly zone with shallower water, roped and buoyed barriers and stricter rules on larger children in this area. While at the other end of the swimming area we added a water volleyball court as well as new lifeguard stands for busy days and weekends.

Lake Tejas is a family  camping and recreation lake that includes numerous campsites and pavilions along with 2 volleyball courts, pool tables, assorted piers and docks, paddle boats, 3 diving boards on 2 diving platforms (including the high dive), 2 children's slides, concession area serving fried food on the weekends, as well as ice cream, microwave food items, chips and sodas on all days, hiking trails and of course the 100 ft  "WET WILLY" slide. It's a great place for birthday parties, scout campouts, school lake days, vacations, family reunions, or just a day of swimming and fishing.

Fishing is free, however, the fish may not be taken out of the park. All fishing is catch and release to help preserve the natural balance of the lake. No swimming of anykind is allowed outside the roped swimming area. Personal canoes are welcome. Small boats with trolling motors may be used for a $3.00 a day launch fee. No gasoline powered motors allowed.

The swimming area at Lake Tejas may have anywhere from 1 to 6 trained Lifeguards on duty at any given time according to the volume of  swimmers. These guards are Red Cross trained in both CPR and First aide as well as professionally trained in water safety and rescue.

The swimming area has approximately 80 yards of sandy beach with plenty of  room to run and play and a buoyed swimming area large enough to accommodate all levels of swimming ability. From the total novice to the advanced swimmer, there is plenty of fun for the entire family.  Rent a tube or bring the float of your choice and you can float out away from the chaos on the beach to find your own private place to tan and socialize.
